Physical Therapy

Did life take a turn you were not planning on? We conduct a physical therapy evaluation and identify the body structure impairments that are getting in your way. We take baseline measurements and design a treatment plan to address these impairments and carry-over the gains to your meaningful movements: sport-specific or task-specific activity. A key to long-term success is carrying over strength, coordination, and flexibility to your every day movements to maximize recovery and minimize re-injury or secondary injuries. Sessions are, typically, 60 minutes, in-person or tele-health.

Wellness

Are you interested in being pro-active in your physical health and mobility? Are you utilizing your insurance benefit in a traditional physical therapy setting and are looking for complimentary and specific care? Let's review your different systems: heart, lungs, vasculature, skin, muscles, joints, nerves, gastrointestinal, mental and emotional, and build a training plan to maximize your mobility, protect your systems from breaking down, and support a long-term behavioral change to keep you engaged in your roles. Sessions are, typically, 60 minutes in-person or tele-health.

Coaching

Are you looking for some one to brainstorm how to make that behavioral change successful? Accountability with a coach helps you walk your path with less tangential routes. Let's hear your stressors, perceived barriers, and unsuccessful patterns to change a behavior that isn't serving you. We can dive deep or stay more accountability-based with variable time lengths and settings: telephone, video-chat, or in-person.

Foundational Approach

A 14-year career in traditional health care settings lended Rebecca's ears to voices of clients sharing the ability to perform a task in a structured therapy clinic, but not having the confidence to translate the movement into their own space.  This motivated Rebecca to establish Move-Meant Physical Therapy and Wellness, PC. Instead of you coming to a clinic, the skills and clinician come to you. We meet you where you move every day, where it matters most, and where we can take down the barriers and build your confidence.

Move-Meant Physical Therapy and Wellness values the expertise a board-certified specialist in neurologic physical therapy provides and can build on traditional physical therapy approaches with a passion for out-of-the-box brainstorming and applying techniques to break the mold and make your movement goals achievable. We approach treatment through the lens of the whole person, not just the physical body, maintaining empathy and compassion at the forefront of your care.

Founder, Rebecca York, PT, DPT, earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Southern California, in 2009, after earning her Bachelors in Movement Science from the University of Michigan, in 2006. Go Blue! Rebecca continued to advance her skill-set with certifications as a Vestibular specialist in 2010 and Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy in 2017. She studied and earned specialty certifications in Parkinson's Disease rehabilitation (LSVT BIG and PWR!) and application of Virtual Reality in the Rehabilitation space. She currently serves in an Adjunct Faculty position at USC within the DPT curriculum.

When not hard at work for your goals, she can be found in the Eastern Sierras or Wasatch mountain ranges hiking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, running, and biking. While in the OC, I add swimming and yoga to the mix. She balances work and exercise by enjoying cooking, reading, and gathering friends and family for quality time.
